Even if I did have anything to say, why would anyone want to listen (or read)?

I have come realize I am not alone in this. Even the most successful people have thoughts of insecurity. I once heard a famous actress confess in an interview how she lived in constant fear that people would one day discover that she was a fake. She could not believe that others would pay her to do something which came so naturally.

So where do these negative thoughts come from? The truth is people don't always want to hear what we have to say and we don't always want to hear what they have to say. We live in an "entertain me" society. Its all about me and how I feel. So we pay big money to the entertainers, the singers, the actors, all so we can be entertained. We don't want to hear what people have to say unless there is something in it for us and yet we facebook, twitter and write blogs in the hope that we will be entertaining enough for people to "like" us.

It's about time we broke this spiral of negativity and started to listen a bit more. Rather than focusing on what is entertaining to us, how about we take some time to hear what others have to say. particularly those who aren't quite as entertaining as we would like. Nothing builds a persons confidence like someone takeing the time to hear what they have to say.

Here are a few things you can do to break the pattern of negativity someones life:

1. Ask questions. Find out as much as you can about that person. They need to know that someone is interested. Simple questions like how many brothers and sisters they have or where they grew up are often all it takes for them to know that someone cares.

2. Don't talk about yourself. Resist the temptation to turn the conversation toward yourself. Its almost instinctive to focus on ourselves. Resist that instinct and you will surprise yourself with the difference you can make in someones life. Finally:

3. Read the blogs, the tweets and the facebook posts. Click on "like", leave comments
